Speaking of talking down to kids, how about the question, "Have you been good today?" Nobody would say this to another adult, and really, what does it mean anyway? Do they care if your child has been good? Or rather, obedient, which is what they probably mean. And then we can go into why we expect "good" men and women to stand up for their loved ones and persist in attaining goals, but "good" children should meekly give in. Oh, there is just too much to wade through from an adult asking a child, "Have you been good today?" Let the T-shirt do the talking in the forthright style of children: "Have YOU been good today?"

I Will Be Assimilated - Child T-shirt
We work so hard to mould our children, when really, they are just like little creatures trying to fit into the Borg. We can tell them to "do as I say and not as I do" until we are blue in the face, but if we allow them to keep the attachments to us that they naturally have, they will be like us in the end. When they are pushing your buttons, checking out how you handle frustration and anger, let this T-shirt remind you, "I am assimilating your responses." Let it do the same for those pesky strangers who like to talk down to kids too. :)

A T-shirt for the Surfer Babe
Human babies were designed to be held by human adults. But in our isolated nuclear families, boy do our arms and backs get sore! The Right Stuff - What I Put in My Baby T
Everyone knows that human babies are made to drink human milk, but formula is just as good, right? Especially when culture and birthing practices contribute so much to the difficulty of breastfeeding. Well, the formula companies would like you to think so.
Every drop of mommy-made human milk contains benefits that formula and other animal milk will never have. In fact, the World Health Organization puts formula as the fourth best choice for infant feeding. Fourth best, not second. Fourth, after milk from the infant's own mother from her breast, milk from the infant's own mother pumped into a bottle, and milk from a donor mother. Yep, babies know what they need when they are refusing that bottle.
For more information on breastfeeding, visit evidence-based information on breastfeeding website, http://KellyMom.com. Interested in donating milk or receiving donated milk? Visit the North American Human Milk Bank website.
